Agri Frontier

Agri Frontier is an agriculture sector advisory firm with offices in Kenya and Nigeria. We specialise in serving agri-businesses across the value chain. At Agri Frontier, we believe that Africa’s agricultural sector has immense potential for sustainable and inclusive growth.

Across Sub Saharan Africa, the agriculture sector is one of the largest contributors to GDP, and accounts for more than half its workforce. Despite its critical importance, however, less than 4% of commercial lending in Sub Saharan Africa goes to agriculture. Agri-SMEs, in particular, find it difficult to attract investment due to high perceived risk. This gap in the supply of investment is widely known as the “Missing Middle”. Often lacking adequate management, operational, technical and ESG capabilities, agri-SMEs require capacity building support to mitigate investment risk.

With more than a decade’s experience serving the agriculture sector, Agri Frontier is now starting to invest in growth-stage climate and gender smart agri-SMEs in seven countries in East & West Africa (Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda) while also providing capacity building support via our established accelerator, the Agri Growth Hub.

Our deep-rooted experience in African agriculture, strong relationships with regional agri-SMEs, and a robust pipeline of investment opportunities allow us to be at the forefront of supporting the Missing Middle. We support agri-SMEs with investment in the range of $0.1 – 1.0 million to grow their businesses and create quality jobs. We also focus on helping businesses adopt sustainable practices that not only tackle climate change but also champion gender equality and create opportunities for Africa’s youth.
